After sixteen months of preparation, I finally passed the forth actuarial exams.  Of course, I'm not even halfway towards my license yet, but it's a start.

I'm a little disappointed about my job frankly.  It's challenging, but only because our company's so disorganized, and some people just aren't interested in training people or at least act that they are normal people.  I am perfectly fine with being talked down upon in a condescending manner if hierarchy is his concern, and I do not expect anything less than 60 hours a week anyway.  However I can only wonder why some people will act so (purposefully?) rudely to their peers or even superiors and top management.  At least he treats everyone ... fairly!

Ended up with another job, hopefully for the better.  Now all I have to do in the short run is to try hard to pass this SOA exam (Course 4/C) that I don't seem to be able to understand why they made so hard.  Seriously, who cares about the variance of the estimator of the estimate of the function used to estimate the statistic of the estimator of the quantity?

My homepage is really messed up for some reason.  Weird symbols keep popping up and the spacing is completely messed up.  I'll work on it once I figure out how to.  Also, people have been asking me why I posted that picture a month ago.  It's not very clear, but for the Catan fans out there... how often do people get all 5 victory points?  It's like getting a royal flush in poker.

I found a job.  Not a great one, but it'll do for a while.

Came back from the San Francisco and Los Angeles visit.  It was fun visiting around.  But I guess the fun's over.

Three years ago, I thought I could leave my birthplace to begin a new life.  Away from old friends and enemies, away from familial bonds and burdens.  I do not like the US, but that does not matter.  I needed a new beginning from my past years.  Fifty good years beats seventy bad ones.  But I realized it was all a dream.  A dream that was never meant to be.  A young man will now be deported back to his country, a piece of manure the size of a Texas cattle ranch floating on pig piss and sewage, and work eighty hours a week scrapping together enough money to pay for living expenses, if he lives with his mother.  I still believe it is possible to change one's destiny, but clearly, I failed to change mine.

"Goodbye" in Chinese, when translated literally, reads optimistically as "see you again".  But I'm not here to say goodbye.  If you thought saying goodbye is hard, try saying "farewell" in Chinese, which reads as "forever depart".  If you think I am exaggerating, think again.  I will go back to Hong Kong, get a job, maybe raise a family, work hard to feed it, retire, and die.   I will never have a chance to visit all the brilliant minds, inspirational voices and beautiful women that I met during my three years of stay ever again.

Farewell, and I wish you all live happily ever after.

My sister have always wanted to go to Disney World, so my parents decided to come for a US visit for two weeks, visiting Chicago, my campus towns Urbana and Champaign, plus a few surrounding town of Illinois.  Trips are usually for fun, but this one was more of a learning experience for me, and for my parents, the last trip that they will ever embark on that is physical in nature.  My dad still thinks he can climb the five great mountains in China once he retires.  I think he's nuts.  Actually, even that's better than my mom's kind of insanity - I can't believe my mother convinced my dad to churn out such ridiculous amounts of money for expensive restaurants and hotels.  Yes, we got far more than our money's worth, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a LOT of money.

As mentioned before, I'll be heading back to Hong Kong July 3rd.  I'm still thinking of visiting other places in the US.  Californians: if you guys could let me stay for a couple of nights, to save some money, that would be great.  I GOT A NEAT DISNEY GIFT TOO!!!
