Walked past ISR dorms, and saw this:
"Does Got exist? Answer the question. Get a free coke."
Me: What do you mean by God?
Him: Err... just God.
Me: Which god are you talking about?
Him: ...
Me: What organization is this?
Him: We're a Christian organization trying to get different opinions.
Me: So you mean the God of the monotheistic religions?
Him: Err... umm... yeah.
Me: (defines God in Christian tradition, concedes omnipotence and claiming it's
possible)
Me: You know all about the paradoxes right?
Him: Umm...hmm...umm...(?)
Me: (yes if one definition of miracles, no if another)
Him: (stares at me, mouth closed, motionless)
Me: (grabs coke and runs)
The coke was not worth my 10 minutes.

After three days, our toilet's finally cleared!

I never expected anyone in the world to always match their actions and feelings with their words. What saddens me is to see this done by the good folk around you, sub-consciously, driven by subtle forces that even if one had the wisdom to see, one would only flee or surrender. Sure, last night was relatively harmless, but that doesn't make me feel any less uneasy. I would not be half as scared if it were on purpose.

After what happened last night, I am starting to believe that there really isn't such thing as acquiring more "mature" tastes and atitudes towards life. Becoming mature is not so much a matter of growth, but more a matter of acquiring skills that allow a person to be successful in the circumstances that their age and cultural environment puts them into. In other words, the acquisition of knowledge, experience and and skills defines adulthood and maturity.
Children are not miniature adults. Children have their own minds altogether, and sometimes display more "maturity" than adults. Why must your dad enjoy steak and wine more than macaroni-and-cheese and apple juice? Why must you like golf more than broomball? Why must you use bigger words when talking to someone half your age?
